Embracing Contentedness

Fact: I am a pessimist. It is a facet of my personality that makes me grimace. Optimism does not come naturally for me, but give me some credit. I fight harder than anyone to see the bright side.

It is especially difficult to be optimistic when I am on the edge of circumstances- when something wonderful could happen, and I feel my hopes rising. No, says Pessimist, if you get your hopes up, they will most certainly be dashed. Well, dash them. Today I am getting my hopes up.

Music is my optimistic blush to my realistic porcelain. Here is what I am listening to today, Blessed by Brett Dennen, to keep my cheeks rosy:

album-brett-dennen-digipakI welcome the sun,
the clouds and rain,
the wind that sweeps the sky clean
and lets the sun shine again.
this is the most magnificent life has ever been.
here is heaven and earth
and the brilliant sky in between.

blessed is this life
and I’m gonna celebrate being alive.
blessed is this life
and I’m gonna celebrate being alive

I dwell in the darkness
I let in the light
I sleep in the afternoon
and become the noise in the night
I trespass in temptation
suffered in sacrifice
but I awake each day with a new sunrise

blessed is this life, oh
and I’m gonna celebrate being alive
blessed is this life, oh
and I’m gonna celebrate being alive
